Impact At Scale

The Beeck Center engages global leaders to drive social change at scale.

Meet the newest members of the Beeck Center team

Dear Friends,

Happy holidays from the Beeck Center and best wishes for the coming new year!

We are excited to celebrate our five-year anniversary in 2019 with a growing team that will focus on scaling social impact through systems change. Our goal is to create a future where all people have access to resources and opportunities and can influence the decisions affecting their lives. To do that, we need dynamic team members able to equip students with the tools to have impact and incubate scalable, leading-edge ideas.

Our first five years have reinforced the need to train leaders and close the knowledge gap on how to optimize for social impact. In response to the opportunities we’ve seen in the market for us to realign and deepen our areas of focus, we are expanding our work to help our students and future leaders navigate the evolving field and ideas in the social impact space. We are working to support them to move beyond binary choices—like profit vs. impact or service vs. corporate—to help scale and deliver social impact wherever they sit, in any sector, at any level.

Please join me in welcoming our new team members:

  • Nate Wong has joined us as Managing Director, leading the day-to-day operations of the Beeck Center and implementing our growth strategy, working closely with me and our Board. Nate is a recognized leader, specializing in channeling organizational assets for positive social change in the public, private, and social sectors. He will be a trusted partner to me and will execute and build a management team that will grow and expand our work and impact. In addition, he will be a great leader and mentor for our students.
  • Franchesca Rybar joined us as Program Manager for GU Impacts, our flagship student fellowship program. GU Impacts provides experiential learning for students by partnering with leading edge organizations globally on meaningful summer projects. This unique program provides the necessary training and orientation for their projects as well as the space to reflect on their experiences and transfer what they’ve learned into their academic and career interests.
  • Diana Acosta joined us as a program associate to help manage our dynamic Opportunity Zone and inclusive finance work with Lisa Hall. Diana brings direct community development experience through the Center for Social Justice at Georgetown, where she worked closely with students and communities in the DC metro area.
  • Vandhana Ravi joined as a program associate for our Data for Social Good portfolio. A recent graduate of Brown University, she is helping us manage our growing portfolio, including the Chief Data Officer Playbook with Deloitte, the Blockchain Ethical Design Framework, and our recent grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. Stay tuned for announcements about new projects in the upcoming year!

Help me welcome Nate, Franchesca, Diana, and Vandhana to Georgetown and to the Beeck Center. I know our students, faculty, and community will benefit from their talent and experience. I can’t wait to learn from them!

We have exciting things planned for 2019, including more tailored communications to you. Please take a minute to tell us a little more about yourself and the work that you are interested in hearing about from us so we can streamline what we send you going forward.
