GU Impacts Partnership: Kunde Social Cafe

Why are you interested in GU Impacts? GU Impacts provides Georgetown students with a unique opportunity to create tangible, meaningful change in different communities by working with the program’s partners. While I have had previous experience of creating social impact through volunteering, this program attracted me as a chance for me to become more involved in facilitating the long-term development of practices and policies surrounding the issues that I care about.

What issues are you most passionate about working on to create social impact? For the past 6 years, I have focused on creating an inclusive environment with equal opportunities for people with disabilities throughout the world, which is why I am excited to partner with Kunde Social Cafe this summer and to continue my work in my home country of Kazakhstan. I am also equally passionate about facilitating dialogue and advocating for climate justice and sustainability through my daily endeavor because I believe that climate change is one of the biggest challenges that the world has to tackle in the 21st century.

Who inspires you and why? My parents are my biggest inspiration because they’ve always shown me that by upholding your core values through diligence and dedication to the things you care about, you can make the world around you a little bit better every day.
