Special Assistant to the Executive Director
As Special Assistant to the Executive Director, Austin manages a variety of portfolios including scheduling and logistics, strategic initiatives, as well as events and engagement for the Executive Director. Austin also serves as Principal Analyst on the “Crowdsourcing Expert Capacity for Congress” project at the Beeck Center.
Austin has extensive experience in community outreach, protocol, policy analysis, event management, and stakeholder engagement. Austin is a former White House Intern, having served the Obama Administration in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs in 2014 and also interned in the United States Senate for Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri.
Originally from the Ozarks in north central Arkansas, Austin now resides in Georgetown. On the weekends you can typically find Austin taking weekend trips, experimenting with new ingredients he finds at the Palisades Farmer’s Market, and playing tennis. Austin earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Political Studies and German from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. While at Drury, Austin studied abroad at the University of Stuttgart in Germany and interned with the City Council of Schorndorf, Germany. Austin is a Georgetown alumnus, having earned his Master of Arts from the School of Foreign Service.
