Why are you interested in GU Impacts? I am interested in GU Impacts because it is an opportunity to build community, broaden my perspective, and gain valuable skills I can use in my future career. Social impact is something I will hopefully strive to achieve throughout my life, and GU Impacts is a step to learn how to maximize that impact by utilizing all that I have learned thus far in my time at Georgetown.
What issues are you most passionate about working on to create social impact? I am passionate about working to empower others to have agency. One of the ways I believe I can do that is through building leadership and practical skills, education, and health. I am very passionate about creating social impact in the field of health because it touches every other issue.
Who inspires you and why? Someone who inspires me is my grandmother. She grew up in Ethiopia and worked as a midwife before she had her children. Later when she moved to the US, she continued to help others in community health clinics and maintained her status as the matriarch of the family. What inspires me about her is her willingness to serve others, and how she made service a form of leadership.
