About the Student Analyst Program

Student Analysts at the Beeck Center are motivated self-starters looking to drive social change. They are passionate, responsible, and intellectually curious. As a Student Analyst, you will be expected to contribute to team efforts, requiring flexibility and a strong work ethic. 

Each position is designed to support action-oriented activities across our offerings teams. We care deeply about our Student Analysts’ academic, professional, and personal development. Our program centers on experiential learning through project-based work, and Student Analysts are encouraged to further their career development through networking opportunities.

The Summer Student Analyst Program runs from Monday, June 1, 2026 through Friday, August 7, 2026.


Eligibility

You must be a currently enrolled Georgetown University student through the end of the Summer 2026 semester. Applicants from all schools and academic programs are welcome. These positions are paid (details below), and students who are work-study eligible are encouraged to apply.

Basic Qualifications

  • Highly motivated and accountable, with strong teamwork and collaboration

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and communicate changes in capacity and availability in a timely manner
  • Discretion, maturity, and confidential management of all information acquired

Hours and Compensation

Student Analysts should expect to work 40 hours/week. Wages for hourly student employees are $17.95/hour for undergraduates and $22.50/hour for graduates.

Location

Beeck Center operates in a hybrid capacity with a partially distributed team. This summer, to maximize access to our Student Analyst program, these roles are classified as remote. Additionally, there will be both a program kickoff and closing hosted in-person at either the Hilltop or Capitol Campus.

Research + Insights

Supports research and synthesis across Beeck’s initiatives, including topics such as digital government, data interoperability, and benefits access. Students in this role apply qualitative and quantitative methods to help answer real-world policy and practice questions.

 

Example Tasks:

  • Conduct desk and landscape research to map current practices and innovations in digital government and social impact.
  • Draft memos, briefs, or case studies summarizing findings for internal and external audiences.
  • Support data collection and analysis using tools such as Excel, Airtable, and qualitative coding software.
  • Synthesize practitioner interviews and literature into clear insights and recommendations.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong research and writing skills with attention to accuracy and clarity.
  • Interest in policy, digital government, or public benefits systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
Networks + Convening

Supports Beeck’s practitioner networks, events, and learning communities. This role is ideal for students interested in facilitation, partnership management, and communications strategy.

 

Example Tasks:

  • Help plan and coordinate virtual and in-person events.
  • Draft communications such as newsletters, member updates, or spotlights.
  • Track engagement metrics and help document key themes and insights.
  • Conduct interviews or surveys to capture network member perspectives.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Interest in community building, stakeholder engagement, and government innovation.

 

Training + Technical Assistance

Focuses on helping government teams and partners build capacity through workshops, toolkits, and learning cohorts. Students in this role translate research into practical guidance and test learning materials with practitioners.

 

Example Tasks:

  • Research best practices in service design, data management, or public sector innovation.
  • Assist in designing or testing training materials, templates, or guides.
  • Support learning cohorts or workshops through planning and coordination.
  • Collect and analyze feedback to inform future iterations.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Interest in learning, training, or instructional design.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable tools.

 

Communications + Storytelling

Shares Beeck’s work and partner stories through digital media, publications, and events. Students in this role blend writing skills, creativity, and strategy to translate technical work into accessible narratives.

 

Example Tasks:

  • Draft blog posts, social media content, or newsletters.
  • Interview practitioners and synthesize insights into stories or spotlights.
  • Support copyediting, layout, and publication of reports and resources.
  • Contribute to visual content creation (graphics, slides, or short videos).

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Interest in digital media, journalism, or public interest communications.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar tools is a plus.

 

Operations

Strengthens internal systems, coordination, and knowledge management across Beeck’s programs. Students in this role gain practical experience in strategy, fundraising, logistics, and organizational design.

 

Example Tasks:

  • Support process documentation, data tracking, and reporting.
  • Help coordinate meetings, schedules, and internal communications.
  • Maintain project databases or knowledge management tools (e.g., Airtable, Asana, Notion).
  • Contribute to strategic planning and operational improvement efforts.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Comfort working with systems, spreadsheets, and collaboration tools.
  • Interest in how mission-driven organizations operate behind the scenes.
External Placement Opportunities

Occasionally, the Beeck Center collaborates with government agencies for external placement opportunities. Students in these roles will primarily work with their assigned agency. Like all Student Analysts, they will have a Beeck Center based supervisor and engage with Student Analyst cohort programming.

 

The Lab @ DC (1 opportunity)

This role will require an in-person presence in DC throughout the summer. The Student Analyst will work 4 days in-person and 1 day of telework.

 

Organization Overview

The Lab @ DC is an applied research and design team embedded in DC Government and composed of civic design researchers, social scientists, and data scientists. They partner with agencies in DC government to help design, launch, and evaluate District programs with a resident-centered lens. Projects span all policy areas. The Lab @ DC believes DC residents deserve a government that asks questions, tests policies, and iteratively improves how it serves the community. The Lab @ DC meets our city’s most critical problems with scientific methods, civic design, and authentic partnership with District agencies and residents.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Interest in, or prior experience with, public benefits programs. Specific case maangement interest a plus!
  • Experience with a variety of writing: memos, blogs, reports, etc.
  • Interest in, or comfort with, engaging directly with public constituents
