Data has the power to transform lives— from understanding the impact of Long COVID on our workforce, to helping more businesses compete for government contracts. Yet in state government, that potential often goes untapped, constrained by legal, technical, and organizational barriers.

 

A Growing Role: State Chief Data Officers

Across the country, states are establishing state chief data officers (CDOs) to break down silos, drive innovation, and chart a path toward a more coordinated, data-driven government. But establishing—or refining—a statewide data program is no small task. 

 

Connecting Leaders, Driving Impact

The State CDO Network is the only vendor-neutral space designed exclusively for state CDOs. In this trusted community, CDOs engage in candid conversations, exchange insights, and share resources to strengthen their role and improve how data is used in government. By collaborating on key issues—like integrating complex data systems or championing responsible data use—members develop strategies that advance the use of data for the public good.
